Transitioning: How long is too long?

I was not a long term transitioner. My initial plan was to transition for 9 months but by the time I reached my 7th month I was fed up with trying to detangle two different textures. I've noticed lots of discussions on forums and message boards about transitioning length. 2 months or 2 years, the time is completely up to you. Never feel pressured to big chop just because others are.

How long did you or have you been transitioning? What's been the biggest challenge for you?

I also big chopped at 7 months. The two textures drove me crazy!

I chopped at 5 months but I wasn't ready. I think around that 4-7 month mark is when it becomes a battle to manage the two textures. Once you get over that hump, you're good. I failed. LOL

I plan to transition for 24 months or depending on how much relaxed hair I have left, I might chop it off a little earlier. I have attempted to transition before, so I am very familiar with maintaining both textures. I just hope I can last! Good luck!
