Product Review: Shea Moisture Curl & Style Conditioning Milk

My hair needed some TLC and extra hydration so I decided to give Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Style Conditioning Milk a try. Holy Kinks and Coils! I had no idea this stuff would work as good as it did.

I began by clarifying my hair with an Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) and distilled water rinse. I had tons of product buildup and needed a good deep cleaning. I left the rinse in for 20 minutes while I massaged my strands and scratched my scalp. Next, I rinsed it out with lukewarm water and shampooed with Yes to Cucumbers shampoo. By this point my hair felt squeaky clean so I knew all the moisture was stripped from it.

I deep conditioned with a mixture of Organics Olive Oil deep conditioner and Herbal Essences Hello Hydration. I left the conditioner mix in for an hour before rinsing with warm water. Then, I cowashed with Herbal Essence Totally Twisted conditiner and rinsed about 70% of it out with cold water. Now comes the magic....

While my strands were dripping wet, I applied a dollop of the conditioning milk. Believe me when I say a little goes a long way. You could see the product on the hair but immediately my strands felt softer. A few minutes later, I noticed all kinds of curls popping up all over my head. This conditioning milk will give you very defined curls unlike any other moisturizer I've used. Here are few pictures:

I couldn't stop looking at my hair for a good 20 minutes. I haven't seen my curls that defined since I started using Eco Styler gel. LOL I decided to switch up my routine and do a braidout on wet hair. Never again will I do this. I prefer braiding and styling my hair after it has completely dried. For some reason, doing it while wet makes my hair look frizzy and dry the next day. Note: I'm not posting pictures because I don't particularly care for my hair today so I'll try this again after I've done my normal routine.

My hair was so slippery and soft that it was hard to braid it. My curls were so defined that I didn't want to bother my hair but I knew I needed to do something to it since the wash-n-go season is over a few months. Right now, I'm wearing my 2-day old braidout and will try this process again tomorrow. I'm definitely adding this product to my winter moisturizing routine.

I use this line on Kayla's hair. I did hers this morning actually. I LOVE it because its not expensive and her hair loves it. No tangles, NOTHING. I also use goddess curls curl gel when I twist it. Makes a HUGE difference when we take her twists out.

The trick to get good braid outs on wet hair is to make sure it is totally dry before taking it out and carefully taking them down. It me forever to figure out a good method for those.
