I cannot stress how important is to moisturize curly hair. Transitioning, newly natural or experienced naturals need moisture and a lot of it. Particularly during our transition, our hair tends to absorb products easily leaving us with dull hair.

Finding the right moisturizer for you can take some time but here a few tips to get you started:

  • If you have fine or thin hair, opt for oils. Fine/thin hair tends to absorb them much easier than thicker hair, which will require layering of products. Light oils such as almond, jojoba and coconut work great.
  • If you have thick, coarse hair, opt for much cream/butter based products. Oyin Handmade makes a great Whipped Pudding and Whipped Shea. Both are shea-butter based, light and extra hydrating.
  • If you want light a moisturizer, try Shea Moisture Hair Milk. It's hydrating, light and super affordable.
Product buildup can also be a culprit to you acheiving the moisturized hair you want. Make sure you do monthly deep cleanses of your hair to ensure that products are removing allowing others to soak in and give your hair life.
