My Bachelorette Party

My bachelorette party was last night and man...I can't even begin to put into words how epic of a night it was. Of course I won't go into details in order to protect to the guilty innocent, but my girls showed me a helluva time. This was one of those nights that will go down in the books. Although I know we won't have them as frequent anymore since we're living this thing called 'adulthood' for real now; but when we do, watch out!

Wedding Stuff

I’m getting married…in 19 days…whoa.
The reality of this wedding is finally sinking in big time for me and guess what? I’m not nervous. There are have been some rather significant hiccups in plans but I’m not stressing it. Instead I’m sitting back and relishing every moment of this journey. I am marrying the man that I am crazy in love with, I laugh with, cry with and act a fool with. Now that you know how much in love I am, let’s talk about where I am in the process…
Unfortunately my blog has taken a side seat while my mom and I pull this wedding together but I promise I will be back with a vengeance when things slow down.
My planning is coming along well. We picked up our rings last weekend and are going to get our marriage license next week (LAWD!). I still haven’t picked out my wedding jewelry yet but I plan to take care of that this week too. My dress left for final alterations about a month ago and I’m still waiting on it to return. There are still some minor details that need to be worked out but for the most part, I think we have it together. I have a few surprises for my guests at the reception and I can’t reveal them here but it will certainly be memorable.

Wedding Update

Many of you have emailed me and asked about a wedding update. We are 37 days away from the big day and there is still much to do. I figured I would give you a quick run down of what's been done and what's pending.

  • Finalized the menu
  • Finalized the ceremony music
  • Finalized the reception timeline
  • Finalized the photo schedule
  • Finalized the vendor schedules
  • Completed my final dress fitting (dress will be ready by mid to end of May)
  • Purchased my shoes
  • Purchased extra shoes
  • Selected dresses for the hostesses

To be done
  • Send out the last of the invitations
  • Harrass people for their rsvps
  • Finalize the table seating arrangements
  • Purchase the escort cards and holders
  • Second floral consultation
  • Finalize ceremony setup
  • Update the music request list
  • Find shoes for my bridesmaids
  • Find shoes for my flowergirl
  • Order my son's tux
  • Make final payments on the tuxs (Groom)
  • Order thank you gift for my mom
  • Rent unity candlestand
  • Design and order programs
  • Decide on wedding hair for myself

These are just a few things that need to get done but trust me, both lists still have a ways to go. I have an awesome wedding team who is on top of everything and keeping me on top of everything too. My hope is that we can knock most of this stuff within the next weekends. If not, I'm sure you'll hear Bridezilla roar LOL

Wedding Stuff: Hair

Special thanks to Val, one of my Twitter buddies, who found a great interview on Black Girl Long Hair that featured Polliany showcasing her natural hair on her wedding day. I've been spending a lot of time researching natural hairstyles to wear for my wedding day and this ranking in the top 5.

Polliany's hair looks absolutely perfect and is a reflection of her personality. I love it! I think I will test out this style in the coming months.

Hey Girl Hey

Hey guys! I've been inconsistent with my posting but I have a good reason! I've been busy wedding planning and prepping for the months to come. June 2 (that's the big day, by the way) will be here before I know it! Anyway, Saturday was dedicated to all things wedding related. I took the previous weekend off to have some me-time and a much needed break but promised my mom that Saturday would be our day to get things done.

I have to admit, we were pretty productive with shoes and finally selecting and purchasing jewelry for my bridesmaids. I'm still on the great quest to find "the shoes" but I have a feeling we were pretty close. My dad even tagged along with us on Saturday so all in all, it was a great day. And no day is complete without a bathroom mirror pic taken at Dillard's LOL

The night before I washed my hair and did a couple of medium sized twists using Oyin Handmade Whipped Pudding. It was really cold that day so I knew I needed as much moisture as I could get. I even applied a little tea tree oil to my scalp to help combat dandruff. And in case you're wondering, I still haven't figured out my hair for my big day yet.

Speaking of my day, check out a potential pair of shoes for my wedding:

You only get married once and I decided that there was no way  I was going to spare any expense when it came to my dress and my shoes. Aren't these beautiful? I didn't buy them but who knows, I just might have to go back and cop them!
