Extracting Aloe Vera Gel
I tackled the chore of extracting my own aloe vera gel from a branch I picked up at the Farmers Market. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be but it was definitely messy.

A plastic spoon, a ziploc bag and a knife. Make sure you have enough space. |

Starting at the base of the branch, slice down the middle. The branch I had was huge so I had to cut it in half. |

Pull the top layer back to expose the inside of the branch. |

Using a spoon, scrap the gel out and it into a plastic bag. |

Keep scraping. There will be juice in there so be sure to pour that into the bag as well. |

Use your hand and scrap the remaining out. |

Store in an air tight bag in the fridge for up to 3 weeks. |
