Natural Spotlight Update: Traycee
Traycee is a former natural spotlight who big chopped the same month I did (April). It's been 9 months and she's here to share the story of her journey so far.
Last time I interviewed you, you had recently big chopped. Here it is a few months later and your hair is thriving. What’s your secret?
It's thriving wonderfully! I can't believe it will be a year in April since I did the big chop. My secret is water, water, water. Not only on the outside but the inside too. I try to drink at least 68 oz a day.How has your hair regimen changed?
Now that it's been a few months, have you run into any hurdles with your hair? Excessive shedding, breakage? What have you done to remedy it?
Every natural is in search of the “holy grail” when it comes to products. Have you found your go-to product thus far?
You introduced me to Jamaican Black Castor Oil and I’m loving it. It’s definitely helping my hair retain moisture better and thicken up. What is it doing for your hair?
I've read on numerous natural hair boards that Jamaican Black Castor Oil (JBCO) work wonders and you will see results in a matter of weeks if you use it almost everyday. They were not lying! I have a tiny bald spot in the front of my hair. You can't see it because my hair covers it up. When I say bald, I mean completely bald. I started massaging that spot twice a day everyday with the JBCO. Within 3 weeks, I saw hair fuzz on the bald spot! I'm still massaging that spot with JBCO along with massaging my scalp every morning and night. I can't tell yet if it's thicken up my hair but I'm sure it is because of the results of the bald spot. I also use this oil with Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque when doing a deep condition. After doing the deep condition, my hair is always slipping out of my hands!Any new styles you’ve tried and loved?
No I haven't tried any new styles yet. I'm a twist-out girl! I do plan on trying bantu knots in the upcoming weeks.Length check - flat ironed |
New Year, New Goals. Any hair goals for the year?
My hair goal for this year is thicken my hair, especially the edges because they are thin. I plan on eliminating hate until July when I do a length check by getting my hair flat ironed. The picture on the right is my hair flat-ironed on Dec 23. I would like my flat-ironed hair to be bra length by my birthday at the end of July. I would also like the length of my twist-outs in the front to touch my eyebrows by the end of the year. Let us know how we can keep in touch with you and keep up with your hair journey.
