Product Review: Eco Styler Gel

Many naturals rave about how great Eco Styler Gel is and I finally decided to give it a shot. Tracyee, a Natural Spotlight and winner of my first giveaway, told me she LOVES this gel. Considering that I sent her a free bottle without testing it myself, it seemed only natural that I give it a shot.
  • I started by cowashing my hair with Hello Hydration and V05 conditioner.
  • I rinsed all of the product out with cold water and shook my hair.
  • I wrapped my hair up in a tshirt to draw out some of the water.
  • I smoothed Taliah Waajid's Kinky, Curly Wavy lotion into my hair and sealed the ends of shea butter.
  • I let my hair air dry overnight.
  • The next day, I did small to midsized twists with the pink Eco Styler Gel (this one has a bit more hold to it) and sealed my ends again with shea butter
  • I wore my twists for two days and finally took them down today.
Here are the results:

I really like this stuff. It has great hold without being too crunchy and stands up against this GA humidity. It gave my hair great shine and defined my curls. This will be a staple in my drawer.

So why do you use Hello Hydration and VO5. I have always thought that those products were for "them". We have different hair, and their products are formulated to take oil OUT, while "our" products are formulated to keep oil IN.

@ Florita - LOL @ 'them'. Yes, there are some that are made specifically for African American hair but what you have to remember is that most was created for relaxed hair. Many of the ingredients in conditioner benefit any hair type, the key is finding one that works for you.

Hello Hydration and V05 are great hydrating conditioners that provide extra "slip" that is needed to detangle African American hair. Our hair tends to be thicker and coarser, thus, requiring something to coat the hair shafts so that we can get through it.

The only thing formulated to take oil out is shampoo. Conditioner is meant to hold moisture in. Rarely have a ran across a conditioner that stripped my hair. After all, it is supposed to "condition" your hair.
